Just how far can you get in London with £1? Take the northern line south from Euston to Old Street and you’re only a two minute walk from a bargain at a hotel determined to make the city slicker.
As Unlikely as it sounds, almost every night at least 5 people are paying just £1 for their Room at the Hoxton Urban Lodge, where the earlier you book, the less you’re charged.
(The) reception and Lounge (have) panoramic windows looking onto the street, roaring fires and brick walls.
The Hoxton is realistic about its extras, there are no chocs on the pillows but there is a litre of mineral water and a carton of fresh milk for the tea and coffee tray. No over priced mini bar here.
Next morning you’ll find a light Pret breakfast of orange juice, yoghurt and banana, in a brown paper carrier bag hanging on the hook outside your door – all in the price.
For a more substantial breakfast The Hoxton Grille, located within – but independent to – the hotel serves up everything from a bacon bap to a full cooked platter. Open daily from 7:30am to 110pm, the Grille and accompanying bar, serving a menu of classic dishes, grills and deli specials, was justifiably enjoying a roaring trade on the Monday night we ate there.
