Urban edge London can be pricey, so we were chuffed to find the Hoxton Urban Lodge, invention of Pret a Manger sandwich chain supremo Sinclair Beecham. Not only is it in the hippest part of town, it's also v stylish and has everything - flatscreen TVs, beds with lovely linen, a Lite Pret breakfast each morning - all from £59 per night. Phone calls are much cheaper than in most hotels and there's a shop in reception for snacks, booze and other bits and bobs at retail prices. There's no room service, but the lobby's Hoxton Grille serves bistro food as well as a mean cocktail. Plus, you can rent a private office with phone, workstation, free Wi-Fi and private bathroom for just £19 per day.
